Daniel Fontaine: Hello, I'm Daniel Fontaine and you're watching Celebrity Trials on CourtTV. This show talks about the captivating and controversial trials over the years with famous celebrities. Tonight, we will be talking with some jurors from past cases.
First, we are going to the most controversial case of the 20th century: the O.J. Simpson trial. Charged with brutally murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend, Simpson acquitted of the first-degree murder charge. We have a juror from the trial. Welcome.
Simpson Trial Juror: Good to be here.
Daniel Fontaine: Now, that verdict left many people stunned who felt that the evidence against the football great was insurmountable.
Simpson Trial Juror: Well, I can see how some people thought that. But, we all came to a unanimous conclusion.
Daniel Fontaine: One of the most damning pieces of truth was that the odds of O.J. Simpson doing this murder was something like 4 billion to one.
Simpson Trial Juror: Hey, it didn't rule out everybody.
Daniel Fontaine: The jury for this case was made up of 9 African-Americans, 2 Asians and yourself. Did you feel overwhelmed or even frightened at your position in this verdict?
Simpson Trial Juror: I truly was. But after a day or so I grew to really feel comfortable. In fact, here are a few of the jurors. Come on out.
(three large African-American women come out and start fawning over him)
We truly hit it off. We became good, good friends. It wasn't long after that that we came up with the not guilty verdict. This is Shaquantay, Kerekoo, and T'andalasiandokoria.
Daniel Fontaine: Our next guest found Robert Blake not guilty of the murder of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley.
Blake Trial Juror: (speaking in raspy voice, obviously played Froggy in The Little Rascals) Thank you for having me.
Daniel Fontaine: Do you need a cough drop?
Blake Trial Juror: No, no thank you.
Daniel Fontaine: Blake was considered to have an abominable temper but had a clear alibi of not being anywhere near the car at the time. It was possible that Blake may have hired someone to murder Mrs. Bakley.
Blake Trial Juror: Oh, I don't think Mickey....I...I mean, Mr. Blake would do something like that. He is a well-trained actor who seemed to have an open-and-shut case.
Daniel Fontaine: Do you know Robert Blake?
Blake Trial Juror: N-n-n-no. No.
Daniel Fontaine: Do you have a cold?
Blake Trial Juror: Nope.
Daniel Fontaine: Want a throat lozenge? Some water?
Blake Trial Juror: I'm good.
Daniel Fontaine: Over here we have the juror for the Jayson Williams trial. This former NBA player was charged with murdering his limo driver and trying to make it look like a suicide. In deliberations, it was said that the gun used after the shooting in
tests proved that there were no misfires; witnesses stated that Mr. Williams was screaming at the driver before he was shot; and that he had an assortment of weapons in the bedroom where he was killed. We have a juror with us.
(pan over to Williams Trial Juror covered in bling and expensive attire)
Williams Trial Juror: Hey.
(Fontaine pauses for a few seconds to look up and down the juror)
Daniel Fontaine: Our final guest was in the latest Michael Jackson trial. Michael Jackson was charged with molesting children, showing them pornographic material, and giving them alcohol. All ten charges against Jackson were dropped.
Jackson Trial Juror: That's right, Daniel. I feel that Michael Jackson has been given a bad rap. Not only did he have to go through with this a number of times before, but now he was looking at possible jail time. I feel that the prosecution did not have enough solid evidence against the man. Hey, he may be a freak that likes to sleep with boys...
Daniel Fontaine: And only boys.
Jackson Trial Juror: But that does not mean that he is a pervert of nature. He loves children.
Daniel Fontaine: He sleeps in bed with little boys. With the exception of his music, this man was a total stranger to them.
Jackson Trial Juror: I stand by my decision.
Daniel Fontaine: Would you let your children sleep with him?
Jackson Trial Juror: (gets serious) Hell, no.
Daniel Fontaine: That's all the time we have tonight. Tune in next week when we talk about the Kobe Bryant trial.
Williams Trial Juror: I know that dude. He owes me.
Daniel Fontaine: Goodnight.
(wide shot of guests talking to each other and host putting his hand up to his head and shaking it upsettingly)
