Mark Jennings Reese II
Mark Jennings Reese II was born on Monday, February 25th, 1985 at 10:42pm, which is to say he is a "night-timer" and has been ever since. From birth to about age 3, "MJRII" lived in Massachusetts. When he was around the age of 3, he moved to New Hampshire. When he was 6, his parents became divorced, but he doesn't like to talk about that.
At the age of 6, he moved to New York and begin his average lifestyle. Before Mark turned 9, he had developed a strong ability to impersonate Rick Jeanneret, who at the time was the play-by-play announcer for the Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo, New York’s National Hockey Team. Only 2 weeks before his 9th birthday, he did his impersonation on the “Morning Announcements” at his elementary school, Forest Elementary. And no one knew then that it was the start of something, something grand. Thou he had not yet discovered the great SNL. When he was in the 4th grade, he played the cello in the school's orchestra and became the first person to ever "head-bang their instrument in the middle of a school performance". Needless to say, he was quite an extraordinary person. Even in the 4th grade, he was quoting lines from movies, songs, and TV shows. Mark was ready for the big time.
Then, one time on the school bus in the 5th grade, a friend of his started talking to him about this new show of FOX called "MADTV". From there, he was hooked. But it wasn't before too long that his father would expose him to Saturday Night Live. He recalls the first episode he ever saw was "The Best of Christmas" in 1996. He remembers idolizing the “Matt Foley: Motivational Santa” skit with Chris Farley and the host, Sally Field. Mark just absolutely loved Chris Farley. Mark slowly came to love Saturday Night Live. He was so heartbroken even to the degree that he almost tried to take his own life, the day after Chris Farley died. Mark still idolizes Chris Farley to this day. He doesn't want to become Farley, but Mark does want to become as successful as him.
In 2001, Mark moved to Florida to live with his mother. Mark enrolled in Drama at school. He was able to work on his acting skills and appeared in several class sketches where Mark was able to show off his comedic skills. Mark impersonated famous people like Regis Philbin, Al Gore, George W. Bush, Paul McCartney and many others. In December of 2001, Mark made his stage debut in the school musical "Hello Dolly" as a shopkeeper, a waiter and his leading role as The Judge. The musical was such a success that the show made it to the State Conference in Tampa, Florida. In the spring of 2002, Mark made his Variety Show debut slated between a monologue and a dance number. Mark performed a political stand-up segment that he had developed about Al Gore, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney, and did an acapella version of "So In Love" by the Bravados. Needless to say the crowd did enjoy the performance.
In the summer of 2002, Mark moved back to New York to enjoy his senior year of high school. Mark took a job at “Quality Markets” where he worked as a stock clerk. It was through this job Mark was able to develop good stand-up comedy and amazing celebrity impressions. Mark always ran things by his favorite Quality manager, Paul Conner. In the May of 2003, Mark was set to perform some of his stand-up comedy for his high school in the annual “Variety Show”. On the day of the show, Mark, trying to help someone remove a package of M&M’s that was stuck in the vending machine at school, broke the glass on the machine and was cut on his neck in several place by shards of glass. Mark did go on the perform that night, nervous and shaken, but managed to rock the house with his impressions of Keanu Reeves, Arnold Schwarzenegger, George W. Bush and Regis Philbin. Mark closed his 5-minute act with his own rendition of Chris Farley’s “Matt Foley, Motivational Speaker”; although; some may know it as “Matt Foley, Motivational SUPERMAN”.
After graduating from Williamsville South High School, in Williamsville, New York, Mark continued to work for “Quality Markets” and began his stand-up comedy career, going to places like Newark, New Jersey; Boston, Massachusetts, where he auditioned for the second season of “NBC’s Last Comic Standing”; and Kansas City, Missouri.
In the fall of 2004, Mark left Quality Markets and New York, and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico with his family. Mark spends his time writing sketches for Saturday Night You and watching and taping Saturday Night Live. Mark currently owns and has taped and watched nearly 400 episodes of the greatest show ever. In December of 2004, Mark announced he would be leaving Saturday Night You at the end of season. Mark hopes to move on to bigger and better things and in the soon to near future, getting a job writing and performing on “Saturday Night Live”.
Mark is extremely pleased that people enjoy his sketches and would like to thank Patrick Lonergan for posting his sketches and this profile that you read. Mark hopes to continue this "greatness" with sketch writing and in his acting. Mark hopes to see everyone watch him on “Saturday Night Live” in the future. You may not recognize him, but he is there or at least will be there some day. That is enough on him. Enjoy some of his amazing works seen below...
